Machiguenga Tour 4 Days from Puerto Maldonado

Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado Airport, our team will warmly welcome you to begin this adventure in the Peruvian Amazon.

Before heading to the lodge, you may leave part of your luggage at our main office for greater comfort during the tour.

Later, we will transfer to Puerto Bolívar, where we will board a boat to begin navigating the Madre de Dios River surrounded by lush tropical vegetation.

Little by little, you will begin to feel the tranquility and energy of the Peruvian rainforest.

Arrival at the Amazon Lodge

Upon arrival at the lodge, you will be welcomed with a drink made from typical regional fruits.

After lunch, you will have time to rest, relax in the hammocks, or enjoy the facilities surrounded by nature.

Introductory Walk Through the Amazon

In the afternoon, we will take a guided walk along Amazon trails where we will discover:

• giant trees
• medicinal plants
• tropical flora
• old nut camps
• history of Amazon latex extraction

The guide will share information about the biodiversity of Madre de Dios and the importance of preserving these unique ecosystems.

Night Caiman Safari

After nightfall, we will enjoy a nighttime boat excursion along the Madre de Dios River to observe caimans and other species that awaken during the Amazon night.

The sounds of the jungle and the darkness of the forest create a truly special experience.

Very early in the morning, we will begin one of the most impressive experiences of the journey: the visit to Lake Sandoval, located within the Tambopata National Reserve.

After a hot drink, we will navigate along the Madre de Dios River until reaching the entrance to the reserve.

Walk Through the Amazon Rainforest

From the dock, we will begin a walk surrounded by giant trees and lush vegetation.

During the tour, we may observe:

• Amazon monkeys
• Tropical birds
• Butterflies
• Reptiles
• Typical Tambopata flora

The biodiversity of this region makes Tambopata one of the most fascinating places in the Peruvian Amazon.

Navigation on Lake Sandoval

Upon arrival at the lake, we will board small rowing boats to explore this incredible natural ecosystem.

The silence of the area and the reflections of the rainforest on the water create a feeling of complete tranquility.

With some luck, we may observe:

• Giant river otters
• Amazon turtles
• Exotic birds
• Wildlife in its natural habitat

While enjoying the scenery, we will have breakfast surrounded by Amazon nature.

Observation & Relaxation Afternoon

In the afternoon, we will visit one of the lodge’s observation towers to appreciate the vastness of the jungle from above.

The Amazon sunset viewed from this point is one of the most memorable images of the trip.

After breakfast, we will enjoy one of the most authentic experiences of the journey: a visit to a Machiguenga native family.

The Machiguenga community is one of the most representative ancestral ethnic groups of the Peruvian Amazon and still preserves many of its traditions, knowledge, and ways of life.

During the visit, we will learn about:

• Ancestral customs
• Traditional clothing
• Amazon handicrafts
• Traditional music
• Jungle survival techniques
• Use of plants and natural products

This experience allows visitors to understand the deep relationship between Amazon communities and nature.

Visit to an Amazon Farm

Later, we will navigate along the river to visit a traditional farm belonging to a local family.

Here, we will learn about and taste typical products of the Peruvian Amazon such as:

• Cacao
• Bananas
• Cocona
• Cassava
• Lime
• Seasonal tropical fruits

The visit allows travelers to discover how Amazon families maintain traditional and sustainable agricultural practices.

Free Time at the Lodge

In the afternoon, you may relax by the pool, enjoy a tropical cocktail, or simply rest surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.

Our final day begins before sunrise with a walk to a parrot clay lick.

Here, we will witness one of the most colorful natural spectacles of the Peruvian Amazon: dozens of parrots feeding on mineral-rich clay containing essential nutrients.

The sunrise in the jungle, accompanied by the sounds of hundreds of tropical birds, creates a truly unforgettable moment.

Return to Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast, we will begin our return to Puerto Maldonado.

Before heading to the airport, we will make a brief visit to the local market, where we will discover typical products from Madre de Dios and part of everyday Amazon life.

Finally, we will transfer to the airport for your return flight or to continue your journey through Peru toward destinations such as Cusco and Machu Picchu.
